- Carl Ray arrived at Mr. Furtz funeral, and was very depressed.
- Carl Ray received five-thousand dollars and more for college from Mr. Biggers.
- Mary Lou met Alex Cheevey at the community pool.
- Beth Ann and May Lou got into an argument.
Summary:
Carl Ray decided to go to Mr. Furtz funeral, and when he arrived he started to cry. Mr. Furtz was buried the next day. During the week Mary Lou went to the pool and she met Alex Cheevey there. They talked every few minutes and planned to go two days later. The next week Carl Ray was called to the office. Mr. Biggers, a lawyer, told Carl Ray that he is going to receive going to receive five-thousand dollars and more for his college fund from him. When he told Mary Lou’s parents, they asked numerous questions. The next afternoon Mary Lou arrived at Beth Ann’s house. When she went into her room, Beth Ann didn’t really say anything to Mary Lou, so it was as if Beth Ann was ignoring her. When she said a couple of words they both got into an argument over her date and over small things. When Mary Lou left, she said that Beth Ann was acting as if she were the queen of england.

1. Describe Beth Ann’s new behavior. How does Mary Lou feel about it? Beth Ann has been acting if she was the queen of Easton or something, because she was going out with Derek. When Mary Lou went over to her house she wasn’t even talking to her, and usually she blurts out every single detail.
2. How does Mary Lou react when Mr. Furtz dies? Mary Lou doesn’t really know Mr.Furtz, but she is devestated when he dies because it was someone that she knew and she went over there every once in awhile to see the kids and to see if Mr. Furtz or Mrs. Furtz needed help in doing anything.

“I guess you could probably tell from the play I wrote yesterday that dear ole Maggie got permission from dad to go to the party on Saturday with Kenny. Cinderella Maggie has to be home by midnight though.”
I picked this paragraph because it sounded interesting that Mary Lou’s dad all of a sudden let Maggie go to this outrageous party, and let her stay out till midnight, when she said she was grounded for about two weeks.

1. Why was Paul content to be backup goalie?
Paul is happy to be a part of the soccer team even if he is a backup. Paul is content to be backup goalie at Tangerine middle because at Lake Windsor middle he didnt even get to play. When Paul was at lake windsor he was just the manager instead of an actual player, so he is happy to get any part. He is also happy because nobody knows he has IEP,which a disibilty in the eyes, so nobody can tell the coach or someone else that he cant be on the team.
2. What happened when Paul went in to the soccer game for Victor? What was Victor’s reaction?
When paul went to the soccer game for Victor he actually made a goal. This was the first gaol he had ever made in a real soccer game. Victor and Mr. Cruz came back the last few seconds of the game, and when Victor saw the score he was a happy camper. After Victor high fived everyone he went over to Paul and asked him,”how did you do”?, and he said i made a goal for you.
3. Why didn’t Maya need Mrs. Fisher’s encouragement?”
Maya didn’t need Mrs. Fisher’s encouragement because she was already one of the top scorers in the county. Also, she has already had a lot of encouragement from her family, coaches, and friends on the soccer team.
